Prison Ministry

I'm Rick Conner the Prison Minister at Victory Tabernacle. For the past 12 years, I've had the spiritual pleasure of being a part of sharing the gospel to hundreds of thousands of inmates in the prison system here in Virginia. The pleasure becomes more bountiful with some of the greatest volunteers at Victory Tabernacle who have taken part of their time to go into these facilities to win souls for the Kingdom of God.

Excellence in ministry...
Whatever price it takes, pay it.
The dividends are out of this world!

What is your calling??????

As Christians, we demand excellence from our heavenly Father. We expect nothing less than total dedication, commitment, reliability, and success from a holy, righteous God. We are not looking for failure in God. Divinity and fallibility are incompatible. We have every right to expect the very best from God. He, Himself, has set the standard of excellence for us. He is our ultimate example of complete success. Since we expect excellence from God, we should also be willing to demand that same excellence from ourselves. Just as the Lord has called us into Christian ministry and service, He also has called us to reach for perfection in our ministries. "Be ye perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" (Matt. 5:48). "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation (or calling) wherewith ye are called" (Eph. 4:1).

The Bible says that "the callings of God are without repentance" (Roman 11:29). If you are called to be an apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teacher or to any other ministry in the body of Christ, the Lord will not revoke the assignment given to you. He ordained you before the foundation of the world. When you stand before the judgment seat of Christ, it will be in the light of your calling- not what you did, nor what you meant to do or wished you had done, but what God said you were appointed to do. This applies not only to the fivefold ministry but to every member of Christ's body. Each believer is anointed and endued with power to fulfill a specific function. By the Spirit of God, every individual is able to perform their calling with mastery and excellence. So it would be to your advantage to find your calling and get in it!

Find your gift, and start using it for the Kingdom of God. If God is calling you to visit those who are in prison, please call and we will arrange a time for you to join us in a service.

Soul winning made easy???

1000 Bibles for 1000 Hands

When Pastor Price will ask in January for each ministry to seek your goals and objectives for the coming year, I already know what the goal will be. I felt the immediate burdened to place Bibles in the hands of inmates for 2009. The number 1000 came to my heart for 2009.

The Bible says, Thy word is truth, and the truth will set you free. It is an awesome feeling to place the Bible, the word of truth and hope, in someone's hands, knowing that their eternal salvation is on the line. This is evangelism 101: an opportunity to witness and win a soul for the Kingdom of God. Many of us quote the scripture, My word will not return void, and it will not return void if we pass it to someone. I've heard testimonies of inmates who were given a Bible and carried it from one prison to the next before they finally opened it and the word of truth came alive. They would throw away books and papers, but would never throw away that Bible, because somewhere deep inside they knew the Bible contained truth and hope for tomorrow.

Each month we minister to 1500 inmates in four facilities: Camp 13, Deep Meadow Correctional Center, Richmond City Jail, and Bon Air Juvenile Center. We receive many requests for the Free On The Inside Bibles. It is a Bible with testimonies from inmates, who have been successfully freed from a life of crime and sin, and are now serving the Living God. It contains one of the finest concordances, dictionaries, and Bible studies of any Bible. The cost is $3.99 each, or $84 for a case of 24.

You may not be able to go into the prisons or may not feel comfortable witnessing on the street corner, but you can still witness by purchasing a Bible, which will be placed in someone's hands for you. The Bibles that you purchase will be your witnessing tool for the Kingdom of God. Remember Proverbs says, A soul winner is wise, Patiently we await, one great day when we stand before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and He says Well done, good and faithful servant. Souls that you have won by planting the words of eternal life will come forth and stand with you and say, Thank you.

Purchase a Bible or a case of Bibles and start winning souls. If you're making a check out to VTCOG, note in memo that this is for Prison Bibles.

Life Changing Books available.

Here are soul winning books you can purchase to help the prison ministry. These books are great witnessing tools to your neighbors, friends, and relatives. We have put these books in prisons in California, New York, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Kansas, Arizona, Illinois, Virginia, Texas, London, England, Sidney, Australia, Iceland, and New Zealand.

If you would like to purchase a book for soul winning, we will put it in an inmate's hand for you.
